They didn’t remove her, they just changed her name and re-edited the sequence shes in so the joke isn’t ‘LOL SHE FUCKED STUFF UP’ so much.

The joke is STILL Exactly that, but they’ve removed the original voice, removed her wonky eyes, and removed any mention of her name. They removed everything that made her HER. She’s now just another nondescript pony. Did you read my original post regarding this? I didn’t say they removed her. All I was saying was their actions in changing her suggest that it’s not okay to be Handicapped.

My apologies. I did read your original post, but this line confused me:

I’m a bit out of the loop pony-wise right at the moment, not having a TV for the past few months, and thought at first that this meant they had dropped the character entirely. Previously I had heard and read that they merely changed her name. The youtube link you provided clears things up a bit. It looks like they “corrected” her eyes, which is indeed upsetting, and sends a bad message. I’d imagine it really hurts you on a personal level too, and if the above exchange has in any way made that worse I would like to apologize for that as well. I should have simply looked this up myself like a responsible person with internet access.

My friend seems to have misunderstood the situation too, so I’ll let him know.

Haha, no problem at all, It’s cool, I’m not like, devistated or anything about any of this, and you’re totally right, that line of mine was misleading. I just wanted to bring this derpy mess to some people’s attention, hopefully Hasbros. I understand that they where worried they might have offended some people by introducing derpy, but I wanted them to question WHY these people where actually offended, and weather they really should be. I also wanted to help people understand why “correcting” her is way more offensive, especially to people who they thought they where defending in the first place. I just want people to lighten up entirely, and really think about what they’re thinking and saying when they get offended over the presence of a handicapped cartoon character.

It’s kinda like when people try SO HARD to not be racist, that they end up being “differently racist” lol. Y’know what I mean? Being handicapped doesn’t have to be a “thing” if people just stop getting all stirred up and making it a “thing”. :)

While I never wanted to fully get into the Derpy argument, this is one reason why I was always on the fence with my feelings about it. This is a great example of a calm and sane reason why Derpy Hooves wasn’t a bad pony to have in the show. I’m proud of you Jesse <3
